With over 25 years of experience, Peter has assisted clients in a broad range of matters and has developed an in-depth understanding of the legal practices within commercial industry. His experience includes representing industry, individuals, incorporated associations, mercantile agents and insolvency practitioners in commercial litigation, personal and corporate insolvencies, commercial credit litigation, building and construction and property-based disputes including Planning and Environment Court Appeals, objections to valuation objections, and claiming compensation for the resumption of land by local and State authorities.
Recent Matters
- Successfully providing debt recovery services on a daily basis to 4 commercial collection agencies located in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia;
- Assisting listed and private companies to recover outstanding debts by commencing proceedings and entering judgment and enforcing same on behalf of the commercial creditors;
- Lodging caveats over debtor’s property to assist in debt recovery, and commencing proceedings to establish an interest in the land under equitable charges and applying for appointment of trustee with power of sale;
- Representing a Corporation in a $2 million dollar claim for a factoring debt against a guarantor in Victoria and advising in respect to claims against other guarantors in England and America;
- Defending unfair preference actions brought by liquidators against clients;
- Winding up companies and bankrupting individuals for non-payment of debts on behalf of commercial creditors;
- Advising administrators, liquidators of companies with respect to their duties, powers and responsibilities;
- Obtaining orders for the appointment of a statutory trustee for sale of development property in a dispute between beneficiaries;
- Providing international debt recovery advice, including advice on jurisdiction, cross-border insolvency procedures and methods of recovery;
- Advised, commenced and defended proceedings in respect to disputes over sale of horses;
- Advised commercial clients in respect to the impact of the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 on their business and on the issues that arise there from and re-drafted their trade documentation in respect to sale and hire of goods.
