Experience
Rick is Managing Partner of Hemming+Hart Lawyers. He has twenty nine years experience in corporate and commercial law with particular expertise in the mining exploration, mineral development, resources and energy sectors. Rick combines legal knowledge with the commercial experiences he has gained though sitting on the board of publicly listed companies. Rick's recent work has focused on venture capital raisings and IPO's where he has undertaken team leadership by combining legal, compliance and project management roles.
Rick assists mining companies from their early formative stages through to project development and ASX listing. Rick’s experience is very pronounced in the Coal Industry. Rick has advised many companies in their expansion plans covering acquisitions, strategic share placements, mergers and significant financing transactions. Rick prides himself on being the preferred advisor to many listed companies and has, over the years, developed personal friendships with many directors of ASX listed companies.

- Recent prospectuses for the IPO of mineral exploration companies;
- Major Canadian capital raising and the dual listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange of an Australian listed company;
- Various joint venture exploration and mining agreements and a range of work associated with the sale and acquisition of mining projects in Australia;
- A wide range of work undertaken for clients in relation to the acquisition and development of projects in Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia;
- Reconstruction and requotation of formerly ASX listed “shell” companies;
- Contested takeover for an ASX listed coal exploration company;
- Acting on behalf of underwriters in IPOs and other capital raisings;
- The sale of major furniture chain to private equity investors.
