Experience

Aleisha has a broad range of construction and commercial law experience in a number of jurisdictions, including Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.  Aleisha has acted for developers, home owners, builders, government departments, banks, liquidators, contractors and principals. 

Aleisha’s current practice primarily involves construction litigation, dispute resolution, contract drafting and risk management. 

Aleisha has acted for and against the QBSA in respect of administrative review matters and disciplinary prosecutions.

Recent Matters

  • Analysing contract risk and drafting changes to standard form contracts (including Australian Standards, QBSA, QMBA);
  • Negotiating contracts on behalf of the principal and contractor;
  • Residential and commercial building disputes in Courts and Tribunals;
  • Providing various advice on building contracts including on variations, extensions of time, latent conditions and defective building works;
  • Drafting payment claims, payment schedules, adjudication applications and adjudication responses under the Building and Construction Industry Payments Act 2004 (Qld)
  • Assisting claimants in enforcing adjudication decisions as judgment debts;
  • Acting for body corporate members in litigation over building defects in a commercial hotel in the Melbourne CBD; 
  • Acting for the landlord/tenant in commercial tenancy disputes in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
